Start Training Months Ahead
Approximately 6+ months prior to your trip is when you need to initiate a full overhaul, physical training schedule. You need to add aerobic fitness an hour a day, five days a week. Implement strength training. Prepare your muscles to reach the point of exertion without injury. For when you trek, the muscle exertion may occur on a daily basis, and by prepping the muscles, you are decreasing the odds of injury from happening. On the other hand, do not over train. It may sound like a contradiction, but it is not. For you are not climbing Everest, you are aiming to trek Everest. Thus, maintain a healthy diet, ample sleep, and keep your body moving without experiencing fatigue. Break in the Boots
The hiking boots make or break your trip. Here, start breaking in your boots a little after the start of training. Wear the boots at least 20 miles before setting out on a Himalayan trek. Wear them daily. You need to prevent blisters from occurring on your trek. For there is nothing worse than being grounded due to blister pain from new boots.
